Our Mission
STARR is a nonprofit, wilderness area trash removal and recycling corporation dedicated to protecting the Sierra Nevada and Lake Tahoe region.
We organize volunteer cleanups to remove illegally dumped trash, abandoned campsites, and debris from public lands — restoring the wild beauty that makes this region extraordinary.
Our motto says it all: Put the Wild Back Into Wilderness.
What We Do
Wilderness Cleanup
We remove illegally dumped trash and abandoned debris from Sierra Nevada forests, trails, and shorelines.
Recycling & Disposal
Collected materials are sorted and responsibly recycled or disposed of to minimize environmental impact.
Volunteer Mobilization
We coordinate volunteers from local communities, outdoor clubs, and conservation groups for regular cleanup events.
Lake Tahoe Region
Our primary service area covers the Sierra Nevada mountains and the Lake Tahoe basin in California and Nevada.
